I am spending the holiday season at my sister’s in Cambridge. I am usually working and haven’t spent the holidays with my family in a few years. It is a huge win to have a mobile business and not have to choose between making money and spending time with family.
My niece, Zoë, enjoyed helping me after school. I would save small projects for her like: stringing ornament ties, attaching earrings to jewelry cards and organizing inventory. It meant so much to be able to share my passion with her and plant that maker bug early.
Zoë came out worked two of my markets with me. She would bag the items and thank the customers. She also helped with load out, carrying milk crates and wheeling the dolly. After a short while she even had my spiel down. Being a solo female entrepreneur, I wanted to share what I do for a living with her. I think it is crucial for young girls to see women in business. Zoë is well on her way to being a girlboss one day.
